Fly Fishing Guides & Outfitters — the Directory
Curated by Our Guild Explorers · Every website read again 2 October 2026
Thirty-seven businesses, on six rivers and across Arizona. Every one has its own website, and we read that website before listing it. If we cannot verify a business from its own website, it does not go on this page.
Nobody pays to be here. There is no paid listing, no sponsored position and no way to buy one. The order inside each river is alphabetical and means nothing else.

What is missing from this directory, and why
Said plainly, so you know what you are looking at.
No Colorado guides yet
We added four Colorado waters to the library on 2 October 2026 — the Arkansas headwaters, Spinney Mountain, Pearl Lake and the Rio Grande at Coller — and we have not yet checked a single Colorado outfitter. Rather than pad this page with businesses we have not read, we have left the state out. It is next. Our Colorado fly fishing book covers the waters in the meantime.
Five entries carry no telephone number
Bighorn Trout Shop, Henry’s Fork Anglers, Kingfisher Lodge, Madison River Outfitters and TroutHunter publish no number on the pages we read. Several of them invite you to call and point at a contact page. We have not gone hunting for a number elsewhere, because a wrong number is worse than none.
Nineteen licence lines are blank
Eighteen of the thirty-seven publish a licence or permit number on their own site and we print it. The rest do not, and the line says so. That is a statement about what a business chooses to publish, not an accusation: a shop may be perfectly licensed and simply not put the number on its website. If you are booking, it is a fair and ordinary thing to ask for.
Where to stay once you have picked a guide
Most of these towns are small — Fort Smith, Dutch John, Ennis, Island Park, Cotter. If there are three or four of you, a whole house usually beats a row of hotel rooms on both comfort and cost, and gives you a kitchen for a pre-dawn breakfast and somewhere to hang waders. See our guide to whole houses and vacation homes, and the main fly fishing book for the lodging town beside each river.
